Alpha Water Separators - Centrifugal bulk water removal
First stage ahead of dryers and filters. Removes 99% of bulk water when tested to ISO 12500-4.
Documented compliance, every stage.
Certified. Tested. Proven.
Walker Filtration started in 1983 in the family home of Brian and Carol Walker in the north east of England. It now runs from a 12,000 square meter headquarters in Washington, Tyne and Wear, with divisions in the United States, Japan, and other regions, and ships to more than 100 countries.
The company says it makes more than 2.2 million parts a year across over 10,000 products. The core of the line is the Alpha filter platform: water separators, particulate, coalescing, and activated-carbon grades, plus a sterile grade for medical air, all on one housing design. The housings come in 19 models from 6 to 1,500 SCFM, and each element grade has its own end-cap color so the wrong grade is hard to install. Around it sit SmartSep oil-water separators for condensate, PRODRY heatless desiccant dryers, and a wider range of drains, vacuum, and specialty gas filters. Walker has held ISO 9001 for more than 20 years and also lists ISO 13485 (medical equipment), ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. The US division is based in Erie, Pennsylvania and serves customers across North, Central, and South America.
SPC carries Walker Filtration direct.
The Alpha platform covers every stage from water separation through carbon polish and sterile filtration on one housing standard.
SmartSep's built-in indicators, Alpha's color-coded elements, and the published datasheets give your maintenance team clear service signals and fewer field errors.
First stage ahead of dryers and filters. Removes 99% of bulk water when tested to ISO 12500-4.
Dust protection ahead of coalescers and downstream of regenerative dryers, 6 to 1,500 SCFM.
Oil aerosol removal ahead of dryers and at the point of use, 6 to 1,500 SCFM.
Oil-vapor and odor polish as the last stage of the train, 6 to 1,500 SCFM.
Final stage for medical air and product-contact air, 6 to 1,500 SCFM.
Condensate treatment with service indicators, 32 to 6,621 SCFM.
Point-of-use drying with XA pre-filter and LED controller.
Larger heatless dryer with optional dew point management controller.
Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Laboratory → ISO 8573-1 Class 1 oil grades and a sterile grade, with class data on every datasheet.
Food & Beverage Processing → Low-oil-carryover air for product contact and packaging, with ISO 8573-1 class data on the datasheet.
Medical & Dental Equipment → Sterile-grade compressed air and documented filtration for medical device manufacturing.
Automotive Manufacturing → Dry, clean air for paint, robotics, and pneumatic tooling with documented quality.
Chemical & Petrochemical → Multi-stage filtration and condensate management for plant instrument and process air. Work down the Alpha train from the application's class. X5 handles bulk particulate; X1 coalesces aerosols to 0.3 mg/m³; XA polishes oil to Class 1 (0.01 mg/m³); AC carbon takes oil carryover down to 0.003 mg/m³. The medical sterile grade adds a validated final stage for product-contact and patient air.
Every Alpha datasheet lists class and performance by grade, and the medical sterile grade is third-party validated to medical gas standards. Ask for the datasheet for each stage so the audit file matches the installed train.
The Alpha platform spans 19 models from 6 to 1,500 SCFM with 1/8 inch to 3 inch connections. SmartSep condensate separators cover 32 to 6,621 SCFM. PRODRY heatless dryers run from 4 to 360 SCFM.
SmartSep second-stage cartridges handle stable emulsions that a simple separator passes. The 4,000-hour service indicator and the test outlet cut maintenance labor compared with timed replacement.
